From Kirkland House
A stroll to the beach takes about 20 minutes.
A walk to Dunskeig, an Iron Age fort, takes about 30 minutes. The views are breathtaking.
A walk to Ronachan beach takes about 40 minutes.
A core path walk, Dunskeig circular, takes about an hour.
Local Restaurants
There are some great restaurants in the area - Kilberry Inn, the Starfish in Tarbert and Cafe Ca’Dora also in Tarbert.
One of the popular favourites is the Seafood Cabin at Skipness Castle where all seafood is prepared freshly every day during the summer months. There is also a smokehouse on site where you can stock up on smoked foods..
Island Hopping
Clachan is conveniently located 10 minutes from Kennacraig for ferries to Islay and Jura; 10 minutes from Taylinloan for ferries to Gigha; 15 minutes from Cloanaig for ferries to Arran. Day trips - or even half day trips are very easy to all these islands with walking, golfing, beaches and distilleries on offer.
Kintyre Way (walking)
Clachan is situated at the end of the first leg of the Kintyre Way, a path that runs its way down from Tarbert to the Mull of Kintyre. Great for walkers of intermediate ability, each section is around 10-15 miles long. A favourite is the section that takes you to Skipness and the Seafood Cabin (see above) for a late, well earned lunch.
