Environmental Credentials

We are passionate about protecting the environment and we do our best to use less packaging. Our tea trays in guest rooms are the best example as tea, coffee, sugar and milk are all stored in small jars and content is topped up when needed. I try to bake shortbread biscuits for the rooms so guests can enjoy homemade biscuits.

Our soap, shampoo and body milk containers are refillable.

In December 2023 we painted the hallway, the staircase, the guest lounge/breakfast room and all woodwork using The Little Greene Company paints which are of very high quality yet very eco-friendly. Little Greene and the National Trust have formed a partnership and conservation, restoration and reinvention are at the heart of both organisations.

We positively encourage guests to stay 2 and more nights by providing 10% discount which helps to reduce laundry washing.

We wash our laundry in non-bio detergent and dry it naturally, we don’t have a tumble dryer. Ironing is also done on premises so there’s limited mileage footprint.

Our ‘room freshener’ is achieved by airing bedrooms daily, cleanliness and a few drops of lavender essential oil on a handmade clay diffuser.
